Outline of the Two Day Goalkeeper Clinic
1st day - 1st workout
1. Introduction
2. General rules of the clinic
3. What we will do this morning
4. Warm-up
5. With kickboard 6 - 1 laps
6. Side-to-side (note: we will follow this "FOUR STEP" procedure with all drills/skills) A. Demonstration of the skill/drill by Steve Hamann. See him perform the skill/drill and learn from his explanation of the fundamentals you will be performing. B. Each goalkeeper will perform the skill/drill (one-on-one with Steve) with feed back from Steve. Gain knowledge of the how and why of the skill/drill from what you hear from him C. Break into groups of 3 or 4, with the coaches, to practice the new skill/drill with Steve over seeing all the goalkeepers D. Come back as a group to see Steve perform the skill/drill again and hear Steve strengthen your understanding of the fundamentals of the skill/drill with further explanations and answers to you questions
7. Pull-downs
8. Pull-downs in cage (using the FOUR STEP)
9. Look at shooting angles with the rope
10. Penalty shots (using the FOUR STEP) 1st day - 2nd workout 1. Questions about first workout and what we will cover this workout
2. Warm-up
3. Walk 10 laps (This workout is for early season) with an introduction to Steve's “easy/HARD” method of walking laps
4. Re-explain side-to-side (using the FOUR STEP)
5. Passing and pull-downs (COACHES WARM-UP TO SHOOT)
6. Re-explain pull-downs in cage (using the FOUR STEP)
7. Corner shots (Again look at angles with the rope) (using the FOUR STEP)
8. Lop shots
2nd day - 1st workout
1. Questions about 1st day and what we will cover this workout
2. Warm-up
3. Walk laps using Steve's “easy/HARD” method of walking laps
4. Off-set side-to-side (FIELD PLAYERS WARM-UP TO SHOOT) (using the FOUR STEP)
5. Outside shots/blocking with one hand and two hands (using the FOUR STEP)
6. Hole shots with field players (using the FOUR STEP)
2nd day - 2nd workout
1. Questions about the morning workout and what we will cover this workout
2. Pre-game warm-up
3. Jumping jacks
4. Side-to-side (FIELD PLAYERS WARM UP TO SHOOT) (using the FOUR STEP)
5. Cross angle shots (using the FOUR STEP)
6. 8 meter shots with field players (fake and no fake) (using the FOUR STEP)
7. 6-on-5 (using the FOUR STEP)
8. Questions and what you can do to improve your play in the cage
